What is http and https? Why we are using https?

 

Before knowing HTTP and HTTPS need to know what is HTTP. HTTP is the acronym of Hyper Text Transfer Protocol, It is a protocol to access web pages through browser. Now one question comes in our mind is what is the Hyper Text. Hyper text is the text displaying on our computer screen which refer to other text or information which has available and accessible.

The text which has refer to another text or text page called Hyperlink which has activated by a mouse click.
Hypertext was main concept that led to the invention of the World Wide Web, which have enormous amount of information content connected by an enormous number of hypertext links.

Like Hypertext, hypermedia, hyperlink

Hypermedia : As like Hypertext, Hypermedia is associated with the link which refer to the set of multimedia objects, including sound, motion video, and virtual reality.

Hyperlink : The Electronic document text that is connected (hyperlinked) to the other set of text (or graphical elements) to which the reader or user is transferred by a mouse click. It is usually differentiated from the normal text by a different color, by underlining, or by both.

HTTPs : Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) is a secure version of the Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (http). HTTPS allows secure eCommerce transactions, such as online banking, online purchasing, E-transfer of the money.

HTTPS over SSL (Secure Socket Layer). It is a TCP/IP protocol used by Web servers to transfer and display Web content securely. The data transferred is encrypted so that it cannot be read by anyone except the recipient

Web browsers such as Internet Explorer and Firefox display a padlock icon with green color to indicate that the website is secure, as it also displays https:// in the address bar.
